Another explosion in the Gulf of Mexico? Alert!
Every activity in life involves a risk, even walking around the house or even driving our cars. The more complex the activity the more risk is expected. The safety trainning and procedures even though are followed strictly there is a chance that in the moment less expected an accident could potentially occured.
The oil & gas business specially in the Gulf of Mexico is on close watch due to the last explosion of the Macondo Well, whatever the causes of the event is an accident, preventable maybe as all of the other accidents in any other industry.
Goverments cannot declare moratorium of flights if a plane crashes that is an extreme measure that affects with job losses, etc. I do not understand why the oil industry personnel has to be punish with these extreme measures.
I believe that a more stringent safety approach to daily activities is a corporate responsability of the operators and must be constantly communicated to the employees, to create a culture towards safety.
Be aware of our surroundings, have JSA's (Job safety analysis) implemented before any task is performed, you are safety champion!
See ya soon!,
